Land Trust Celebration |
North Branch Land Trust members, their guests and staff gathered recently at Appletree Terrace, in Dallas, both to celebrate the holiday season as well as to honor several individuals. Executive Director, Paul Lumia, bestowed honors and awards to two members of the North Branch Land Trust Board of Directors who resigned as of the end of December: Mary Louise Faber, who served on the Board for three years, and although she was unable to attend, was recognized for her passionate service to the organization; Sarah P. Carr received a lovely bouquet of flowers, many accolades and well wishes, and a sincere thank you for 15 years of service and dedication to the Land Trust, most of which were spent as secretary of the organization. The North Branch Land Trust 2009 Award of Appreciation was presented to Scott Ciravolo, owner of Tree Design, located in Trucksville, for outstanding and dedicated work in producing unique and creative printed materials for the Land Trust’s 10th Annual Dinner and Silent Auction. Scott was accompanied by his wife Kelly. Long-time North Branch Land Trust employee Linda Thoma received a surprise service award for 14 years of dedication to the organization, and was honored with a commissioned piece of artwork by local and international talent Leigh Pawling, of Dallas. Lumia stated, “This award was very difficult to pull off without Linda finding out about it because it’s her job to know about the minutest details at the office.” Thoma indicated that her service to the Land Trust has been her life—“eating, sleeping, breathing everything land trust, and I’m in this for the long haul.” Anyone interested in becoming a member of NBLT or volunteering to help with the Trust’s land conservation mission, may call the North Branch Land Trust office at 696-5545. |
